DEGREE OF HEARING LOSS:-

Select any two of the people having the experience in hearing loss you will see that there requirement is different. Because the hearing loss is depend on the sound frequency and the decibels. Your hearing is not the percentage of hearing loss even it is the percentage or range of the sound you hear.
The most important factor of the hearing is the “frequency”. Frequency defines the pitch of the sound from very lower to the very higher. People having the hearing loss at various frequencies
So even when you listen the range of sound on the same volume every time you would not be able to hear the others. In order to determine the hearing degree of a person the hearing care professional gives a series of the test to determine the softest level you can hear a tone in a particular range. 

There are four degrees of the hearing loss:-

Mild (26-40 db HL threshold)
Moderate (41-70 db HL threshold)
Severe (71-90 db HL threshold)
Profound (91 db HL or higher threshold)


Hearing Loss Degree



1.      Mild (26-40 db HL threshold):-


When you are having the problem of Mild hearing loss, you cant distinguish in between the two sounds having the same background noise. And you will be unable to hear the soft speech.

2.      Moderate (41-70 db HL threshold):-
With the moderate hearing loss you are unable to hear the conversations when there is the background noise. But you can hear the Radio and the Television clearly.

3.      Severe (71-90 db HL threshold):-
With the severe hearing loss you are unable to hear the normal conversations. Even you cant hear or understand the sounds with the high volume. People that are having the problem of Severe hearing loss can hear only the amplified speech-by shouting ,turning up volume or with hearing aids.

4.      Profound (91 db HL or higher threshold):-
With the profound hearing loss people are unable to hear the amplified speech.
